Hey, I’m Matt – Central Coast builder, new dad, and still the guy who’s happiest with a nail bag on and boots covered in sawdust.

My building story started when I was 20, labouring on local sites, carrying sheets and mixing concrete. So I started a Bachelor of Construction Management at Newcastle Uni while still jumping on local jobs whenever I could. During those years I also worked on light-commercial stuff – schools, TAFEs, aged-care facilities – anything to stay on the tools.

Got my Cert III in Carpentry in 2016, kept subbying for a handful of good builders, picked up every trick I could, and finally grabbed my builder’s licence in 2018.

That’s when Halo Building Projects was born.

Started small – decks, pergolas, the odd bathroom – from the back of a ute and a lot of late nights quoting. Slow and steady growth, plenty of hard lessons, but every job taught me something. Five years in we’ve grown into a solid little business, shifted the focus to mid and high-end additions, extensions and full home renovations, and I wouldn’t swap it for anything.

I still run a deliberately lean crew: me on the tools 70% of the time, one gun 4th-year apprentice, and a tight group of long-term subbies I trust like family. We quote and manage everything through Buildxact (fast, accurate, no nonsense) and we’re proud members of Master Builders NSW.
